In the warm, quiet world of a womb, two tiny lives nestled side by side. They shared the same small space, but their hearts and minds were oceans apart. One of them, Rex, trusted only what he could sense, while the other, Faith, felt the presence of something far beyond. Together, they began to unlock their spiritual potential by believing in what lies beyond the visible.
Life After Delivery?
One day, Faith broke the silence. “Rex, do you think there’s life after delivery?”
Rex chuckled. “Life after delivery? That’s ridiculous! This is life, Faith. We have everything we need – warmth, food, that steady beat. Why go looking for more?”
Faith hesitated, sensing his doubt. “But don’t you wonder if there’s something bigger out there? Maybe we’re here to prepare for a world with light, colors, and senses we can’t even imagine.”
Rex squirmed. “A world with light and colors? Walking around? Eating with our mouths?” He laughed. “We get everything through this cord, Faith. Anything beyond that is, well… impossible.”
The Possibility of Mother
Faith whispered, “But maybe this cord isn’t meant to last forever. Maybe we’ll grow beyond it, and then, we’ll be ready for more. And what if, after we’re born, we meet…Mother?”
Rex let out a louder laugh. “Mother?” he scoffed. “Where is she, then? If this ‘Mother’ of yours is so real, why haven’t I seen her? I don’t see her, don’t hear her, so she’s not there.”
Faith smiled softly. “Sometimes, when it’s quiet, I feel her presence all around us. We’re part of her, inside her. She’s holding us, giving us life. I can even hear her heartbeat if I really focus – like she’s singing to us from somewhere above.”
Faith vs. Skepticism: Ego and Spirit
Rex closed his eyes, dismissing her words. But a small thought lingered. What if, somewhere beyond the cord, Faith was right? What if a whole new world waited for them both?
This parable, inspired by Your Sacred Self by Dr. Wayne Dyer, beautifully illustrates the inner struggle between ego and spirit, as well as the conflict between skepticism and faith. Rex represents the ego, clinging to what he can see and measure, while Faith embodies the spirit, trusting in something greater and unseen.
The Larger Spiritual Truth
This story also highlights a powerful truth: we often fail to see God all around us. The ego, fueled by doubt and skepticism, blinds us to the presence of a higher power. Like Rex, we focus on the immediate and dismiss the unseen, even when whispers of something more are calling to us.
Dr. Dyer uses this parable to challenge the ego’s limits and invite us to awaken the spirit within. Are we like Rex, clinging to what we see and doubting what we don’t? Or are we like Faith, ready to believe in a world bigger than ourselves?
